Conestogo River Horseback Adventures

On November, 19th the UofG Outdoors Club organized a trailride at Conestogo Horseback Adventures located in Waterloo, 30 kilometres from Guelph.

We met in the early afternoon with a group of around thirteen students, many of them internationals. Our drivers (of course also participants) brought us safely to the stable. Unfortunately, some of them arrived late – they had a good reason for it though: they tried to catch a dog, which had outrun its owner – so that our group also arrived late at the horses. Therefore we only had about 40 minutes of riding left, instead of one hour, which especially sucked, because we had to pay $ 35 for it. Usually I take trailrides of about two to five hours, including long reaches of trot and canter. But as there were several participants, who only sat on a horseback a few times, we only walked that day. It was cold, windy and rainy and we were all very cold. As you can see: It could have been better. But anyhow, it was nice to finally sit on a horseback again :-)

Mount Nemo Conservation Area

Today, November, 26th I took part in the Mount Nemo Hike, which was also organized by the Outdoors Club. The Mount Nemo Conservation Area is only 40 kilometres away from Guelph, located in Burlington.

We started at 8:30 am with a group of around fifteen students, many of them internationals again. It was a light hiking experience, as we only stayed for two and a half hours. Everyone could walk on his/ her own. My friend Ida and I found some nice places and we could live out our thirst for nature and adventure (ok, the second one is probably only true somewhat limited haha ;-) In Mount Nemo you can find many rocky crevices and caves, so you should watch your step. Especially when it had rained before and the rocks are slippery like it was today. Another thing, which was nice to look at, was the roots which were creating beautiful patterns all over the floor.
